In this engaging online course, you will explore the thought-provoking arguments. Through interactive discussions and guided essay-writing exercises, you will critically assess different perspectives and craft a compelling and well-structured essay to reflect your own view on the weekly topic. Students are expected to explore the weekly resources ahead of the sessions, and will learn how to generate ideas and craft a sample essay on the weekly topic during each session. They are expected to finalise their own essays as homework. A personalised feedback will be provided to each student. 30 Minutes: Group Discussion Objective: Encourage critical thinking and sharing of diverse perspectives. Activities: Ask questions  to analyse the topic Summarize key points for use in the writing workshop. 50 Minutes: Essay Writing Workshop Objective: Guide students in crafting a structured and persuasive essay. Activities: 10 mins: Explain the essay structure (introduction, thesis statement, body paragraphs, conclusion). Provide a sample thesis statement on the topic for inspiration. 20 mins: Writing session—students draft their thesis statements and outline main arguments with supporting evidence. 20 mins: Peer and mentor review—students exchange outlines, give feedback, and refine their arguments. 10 Minutes: Reflection and Homework Objective: Connect discussion insights to the essay and set up next steps. Activities: Reflect: How did the discussion shape or challenge your initial views? Assign homework: Finish the first draft of the essay for submission before the next session.
